Collagen and elastin production slows over time, leading to volume loss and a lack of elasticity in the skin. We rely on hyaluronic acid when we aim to give a client more volume and plumpness to the skin. Hyaluronic acid (HA) injections, or dermal fillers, are made from a naturally occurring moisture-binding molecule that can hold one-thousand times its weight in water. That means Ā¼ teaspoon of HA can hold 1.5 gallons of water! Hyaluronic acid injections are used to restore facial volume and improve signs of aging.

Benefits of dermal fillers include:

Dermal Fillers also raise depression from scars to improve their appearance. Because dermal fillers contain a hyaluronic acid base, they deeply hydrate the skin, adding to a more youthful and glowing complexion.

DERMAL FILLER FAQs

Dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid-based products. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a molecule found naturally in the body that attracts water. Dermal fillers treat wrinkles, add volume and hydration to the lips, and replace volume loss throughout the face.
Dermal fillers are soft and malleable to achieve a customizable look. They soften fine lines when injected into a treatment area by adding volume. The HA molecule, the base of dermal filler injections, will deeply hydrate the tissues of the treated area, improving complexion and overall skin health.

You may be given a topical anesthetic to numb the area before injection to reduce pain. Many patients report slight discomfort while receiving injections, similar to a pinch or prick.

Results will likely be instantaneous. Your provider will lend you a mirror so you can see your injection’s results before you leave. Swelling is almost immediate, so final results are typically revealed one to two weeks post-appointment.

Dermal fillers may last anywhere from 6 to 18 months. Results depend on the area treated and the product used. Some areas of the face metabolize the filler faster than others. For example, certain dermal fillers, such as Voluma, are formulated to last longer but are limited to the cheeks.

Swelling and mild bruising are likely to occur for one to two weeks, depending on your body’s response to treatment and the number of injection sites. You should avoid exercise 24 hours post-treatment but are free to resume your daily activities.

Dermal fillers do not last forever. If you wish to maintain your results or add to them, you will need maintenance appointments between six to twelve months after your initial appointment.
